Four of those who have been sentenced to prison for money laundering in connection with the great trial in Marbella on the Costa del Sol which was called ‘Ballena Blanca’ has been reduced prison sentence.

The Supreme Court, the Tribunal Supremo, has decided to cut the prison sentence for four of the five who had appealed the court’s decision. The organizer, the renowned lawyer from Marbella, Fernando del Valle, get a reduced sentence of six years and three months in prison and five and a half years in prison for money laundering. Fernando del Valle also gets the fine reduced from 2.6 million Euros to 1.2 million Euros.

Frenchman Sophiane Hambli previously sentenced to three years and three months in prison get penalty reduced to two years. The fine is reduced from 1.5 million Euros to 700.000 Euros.

The other two are the Finnish pair Aimo Veikko Voutilainen and Ms Leena Voutilainen from Mijas Costa receiving penalty reduced from three years and three months in prison and two years. The 71-year-old Aimo Veikko previously convicted of economic crimes in Sweden. It was the money from Sweden to the Finnish pair would make white and “wash” on the Costa del Sol.

The operation “Ballena Blanca” was revealed in 2005 that 50 people of various nationalities were arrested including several accountants and lawyers for their involvement in a network that laundered money in Marbella by real estate by buying Marbella apartments and Marbella villas with black money which was then sold and washed white with the earlier 5% tax on property sales in Spain.
